Jill Luigs, Fashion Design
After many quilting classes and years of haute couture fashion design, I’ve developed a way to create my own kind of clothing. With pattern making and draping classes under my belt, I make new garments with a tendency to combine both methods.
Last year I collaborated with two other fabric artists and a milliner and teamed up with Teachers Fighting Cancer of America to put on a fashion show to help raise money for teachers. Our goal was accomplished, and I learned how to create a line of clothing that fit 15 different models and coordinated with handmade hats. I have recently opened up a studio in the back of the Bay Willow Design shop on the McKinney square, collaborating even more with the milliner, Jenny Mathison-Foster.
