Judy Simon, Pochoir

To be completely honest, I love stencil graffiti. I want to spray my artwork on back alley walls and overpasses. But, I’m a 64 year old woman and that’s just not practical. So, I’ve found a way to completely fulfill that joy by hand cutting stencils and spray painting my images onto canvas. I love the long and somewhat complicated process of making images that will translate into the stark black and white needed for cutting stencils. To me, X-ACTO knives and acetate, canvas and spray paint are the best things in life. I’ve renamed my graffiti to the much more acceptable “pochoir”.

Banksy is an inspiration to me, but Blek le Rat’s work propels me to get better and better at what I’m doing. I’m proud of my canvases of stencil art, they keep the walls of McKinney safe, and I hope they bring happiness to viewers! Thank you!
