I find my inspiration from the natural world and love how my clay pieces start as earth elements. It’s no wonder raku has become a favorite glazing process of mine – the erupting fire, the crackle and the smoke – it’s all so imperfect and fun. Lately art is about the letting go of the perfect piece and enjoying the process.
As an art teacher at the McKinney Art House I explain to my students the value of creative play and detaching from the end result – and so, in the teaching, I too am learning. Enjoying all that is and allowing the results to be art. What a wonderful lesson.
