Bob Bruu, Woodcarver
I’m a diverse artist, with work sourced from my love for sports and the outdoors, ranging from paintings in acrylics and watercolors to sketches in graphite and ink to my latest medium of choice – wood. I am fascinated by the finer details in my subjects and the drive to depict that realism can be seen in my work. My current focus is on creating wood sculptures, drawn to the process of watching a piece of wood come to life. I’ve been fortunate to work with a number of well-trained wood carvers over the years and learned a lot by sharing a passion for carving. Using a combination of hand and power carving tools, an average piece can take anywhere from 40 to 200+ hours to carve. Various paint and stains complete each piece. Creating unique wood sculptures that fool the eye is my passion and goal.
