Leslee Ortega

Medium: Acrylic, Oil, & Mixed Media

My artwork is a modern and fresh interpretation of Pet Portraits and Animal Art blending vibrant color with abstract realism in a unique and distinctive style.

During her career in the high tech industry, Leslee pursued her creative talents only as time permitted. Wanting more, in 1997 Leslee started training with Patricia Merrill at Mission Renaissance Fine Art Studio in Los Angeles, completing the 3 year program in 2000. During that time, she also took classes at the Interior Designer’s Institute and UCLA Extension. When an unexpected family move from Southern California to McKinney happened in 2014, Leslee used the opportunity to earnestly pursue her goal of making art her business. She enjoys sharing her creative talents to inspire others through work with The Samaritan Inn in McKinney and Dwell with Dignity in Dallas and teaching at Jump into Art summer camp for children. Her work can be seen at The Cove Gallery in McKinney and at lesleeortegaart.com.

I paint because it’s the one true place where I feel alive and aligned with my life’s purpose. Wild color and expressiveness is front and center in my collection of pet portraits, work that helped to define my style and brand. Painting animals and pets is a lovely way to open conversations with all people, but especially pet owners and children. Much of my time is cheerfully spent enjoying photos of much-loved pets and chatting about the passionate stories that make each one special. My work allows people to delight in the deeply transformative feeling that a connection with a cherished pet or favorite animal can have. My paintings will evoke spontaneous smiles so feel free to smile away!
